Kibou-ken at Bukit Bintang
Location: Level 2, S110, Aeon City Mall, 1, Jalan Desa Tebrau, Taman Desa Tebrau, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Floor 2 · ÆON Mall Tebrau City
The menu likely covers a focused range of Japanese dishes, possibly ramen given the -ken naming convention used by several ramen chains, or possibly kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) or yakitori (grilled skewers). The Japanese name suggests authenticity and specificity rather than a general Japanese menu. The restaurant likely prepares its signature dishes with attention to traditional techniques and authentic ingredients. The format may include counter seating where diners can watch preparation, a feature common in focused Japanese restaurants. The restaurant provides a more specialised Japanese dining experience than general Japanese chain restaurants, with depth in its chosen category. The format suits both quick solo dining and casual group meals.
A meal costs between RM20 and RM45 per person. The restaurant is busiest during weekday lunch and weekend dinner. The focused menu provides depth of expertise that general Japanese restaurants cannot match. The authenticity in preparation and ingredients attracts Japanese food enthusiasts and expatriates. The specialised format creates a clear identity in the competitive Japanese dining market, where differentiation from general sushi-and-sashimi restaurants is valuable.

The ramen is awesome and I love the broth so much. However, it is quite pricey but worth it. Set meal is a better choice if come with friends as you may get other tapas like dumpling, beans or even Japanese char Siew rice.
